From Keith Friday 2/26/10:

Well tomorrow finally starts the tournament. It has been an interesting season to say the least. It has gone very good thanks to your hard work. You and your coaches have done a great job this year. Please pass this along to your coaches as well as these next thoughts. We have a great opportunity to really make a difference in someones life during the tournament. Let everyone see the love of Christ through you.

The tournament can either bring out the best or worst in your players and fans. As coaches you will influence which that is.
Your players and fans will follow your lead. It starts with the coach. If you win the game and blow your witness then everyone loses. You probably will not even know how your actions influenced someone, just know that they will influence someone either positively or negatively. YOU CHOOSE!

Please make sure the winning team records their score so we can keep up with it.

Good Luck in the tournament. Make sure that you coach and your team plays as if Jesus is your only spectator.

God Bless,
Keith

From Keith Friday 2/26/10:

There are a couple of typos. In the Girls B championship game on 3/8 the time reads 6:30am. It should be 6:30pm!

In the Girls E game at Providence between 225 SAR1 and 231 PRO2 is listed as being on 3/4 at 2:45pm. When I changed the game from Thursday to Saturday I failed to change the date from 3/4 to 3/6. The game is scheduled for 3/6 at 2:45 at Providence Baptist.

The corrected brackets are posted on the Tournament Page
.

From Keith Thursday 2/25/10:

There are some bracket and flight revisions. They range from the very simple typo, to a complete change in the location and time. I guess I need to start calling the first schedule a preliminary schedule. Hopefully this does not cause any teams a hardship. By the way I am taking a vacation. Not really!

We were told that we could have 3 courts at Carolina Courts in Indian trail on Thursday, but I found out today that only one court was available for Thursday night. I also made a mistake on the gym availability at MP Baptist and Mt. Harmony during the week. I have had to scramble a bit, but I think I have the brackets fixed. Of course this caused a change in some flights. Listed below are the flights that are affected. As I said, some are only a simple typo, while others involve a much bigger change. All the revised brackets are posted on the tournament page (dated 2-25). All the changes are in red! Please discard the old flights and replace with the new revised brackets. Also make sure all your coaches get the revised brackets. Don't assume that they will look at the changes for themselves. We don't want any forfeits because a team failed to get the change.

List of tournament flight revisions:
A - 1st & 2nd flight
GB - 1st flight
C - 1st & 3rd flight
D - 3rd flight
GD - 1st & 2nd flight
E - 1st , 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th & 6th flight
GE - 1st & 2nd flight

Good Luck in the tournament,
Also, look for my yearly tournament e-mail tomorrow. Please pass it along to your coaches.
If you have any questions please give me a call. Thanks for your patience.

From Keith Monday 2/22/10:

When the additional make-up games were put on the web page the other make-up games already scheduled for the week of 2/22 - 2/25 disappeared. Those games are still scheduled and have not changed. Sorry for any confusion.
Webmaster's Note: IT'S MY FAULT! I put the wrong Word doc on the website. It has now been corrected. Click here or on the link above for a new Word Document that has ALL the makeup games for this week, ALL locations.

From Keith Saturday 2/20/10:

I got some emails that some people could not open the "Make up games 2/22-2/25" file posted earlier. It was in Word, but was in Word2007. I reformatted it in an earlier version so hopefully everyone can open it. It is available at this link or by clicking on the link above. The games are also listed below. Notice that a game has been added to Avondale and 1 team has been changed at Carolina Courts at 8:00pm. This is the corrected schedule with all games listed.

ALSO - click on the links above for Results and Records for All Divisions. Let me know if any of these are incorrect.

Thanks,
Keith

From Keith Tuesday 2/16/10:

Thanks for your patience. This has been quite a year for make-ups. I know everyone is very anxious about when you may play you make-ups. Click on the links above for the schedule for next week and a few corrections for this week and additions for Saturday 2/20. Every effort has been made to make sure a team does not have 2 games not played. It is possible that your team plays a different team than originally scheduled. This is just to make sure that all teams only lose 1 game at most. I know everyone has conflict issues, but unfortunately we have only one shot at making up a game. The Tournament will start on 3/27. Flights will be ready by Tuesday, 2/22 and maybe sooner. There maybe a few make-ups Saturday morning on 2/27. That is still being determined. Your team will play at least one game on the 27th and possibly 2.

We were able to add 5 make-up games this Saturday at Sardis Presbyterian and it is very much appreciated. It is 2 b games, 1 gb game, 1 d game, and 1 gc game. Please check to see if your team now has a game on Saturday at Sardis.

The games this Friday 2/19 at Myers Park Presbyterian are listed at the wrong time. We cannot have an A division game start at 8:00pm. Rather than 6:00, 7:00 and 8:00 they will be at 5:30, 6:15, and 7:00. The change has been reflected on the revised schedule posted above for this week. Also, the original schedule listed the team playing the first game as 43 MPP3. It should be 43 MPP5.

Please make every attempt to make your re-scheduled game time.

If you have any questions or find typos please call or email me.

From Keith Monday 2/15/10:

Hey, I just got word of a typo. The make up schedule say 141 PRO3 plays 125 MPP! at Myers Park on Thurs 2/18. That should be 141 PRO2. Thanks for the heads up.The Schedule of Make Up games 2/16-2/19 at the link above has been corrected.,

From Keith Sunday 2/14/10:

Well hopefully we will see no more snow. I know that some people may be wondering why we called all the games off this past Saturday since the sun came out and the roads dried out. I still think we made the correct call, because all indications were that the roads would not improve that much. The other big reason was that we did not want anyone slipping on ice going into a gym and also putting our host churches in a bad liability situation.

With that said, we must now do some creative scheduling. We will make up at least one game for all teams that lost 2 games so no team loses more than 1 regular season game. Some teams that only lost 1 game may still get to make that game up depending on gym availability. That means that games will be played during the week starting on Tuesday 2/16. We are trying to make up all A and GA games since they only play 7 games. The A and GA division will make up most of their games on 2/20, but will also have some week day games. Please note the game time changes at St. Stephen.

The AA FUN Day is still going on as scheduled at Myers Park Baptist from 9:30 till 11:00. All AA players that come to FUN DAY will receive a Medal. There are a few AA games also scheduled on 2/20 at a different time because those teams lost 2 games due to snow.

Saturday 2/27 will be very creative. There will be some make-up games scheduled during the morning. The tournament will also start Saturday 2/27. There is a possibility that your team could have a make-up game in the morning and a tournament game in the afternoon. Obviously the tournament brackets will be out by the first of next week so the make-up games played after 2/20 will not count toward the seeding.

Click here or on the links above for a make-up schedule for this week and the revised 2/20 schedule with changes in red. Please check the schedule over very carefully and make sure your teams know if they are playing. There are additional games next week during the week. I am still proofing those make-ups for errors and to make sure it works. Hopefully a few more gyms will be available next week also. I will get that additional schedule out to you by Wednesday 2/17.

I know that this is not ideal. Thank you for you patience. I am sorry we had a few glitchs in our HOT LINE number Saturday. I am sorry about that. I was trying to put the message on, but so many people were calling and leaving messages that you could not retrieve the message. We got it fixed finally about 9:30 am. I told everyone that i am technology challenged.

God Bless,
Keith

From Keith Friday 2/12/10:

At this time all MMYBL games for tomorrow February 13th are on as scheduled. A decision will be made at 6:30 in the morning if any games will be cancelled. Please have anyone call the MMYBL Hot Line at 704-806-7252 to get an update on cancellations.

From Keith Thursday 2/11/10:

I was just trying to see if ya'll were awake. Ya'll sure are. Really, thanks for the heads up. I guess I really am losing my mind.

The tournament begins February 27th and not March 27th.
Actually, there may be some play in games during the week prior to February 27th.

Still working on more make-ups. We will make up as many as we can, but we must be finished by March 6th because of Spring sports and Spring Break. Be prepared to possibly play some games during the week for make-ups and the tournament..

From Keith Wednesday 2/10/10:

The league is trying to make-up as many games as possible from 1/30. The tournament needs to be finished by the first week in March because of spring sports and spring break. There will unfortunately be games that we will not be able to make up because of time and gym availability. The tournament will begin on March 27th. Additional A and GA games will be made up on 2/20.

Here are the games for this Saturday 2/13 and for Tuesday 2/16. If your teams cannot make these times please let me know ASAP.
Additional make-up games and times will be sent to you as we get them scheduled.

God Bless,
Keith

From Keith Thursday 1/28/10:

I know that you all are anxious to know what we will do about the games for Sat 1/30. We will make a decision by 5:00pm Friday 1/29 about the games. Word will go out at 5:30 pm! From Keith Friday 1/15/10:

This is just a reminder to encourage your coaches about Coaching barefooted and your teams bringing in new shoes and texting. There should be Fliers and Posters at your gym from Samaritans Feet. I will have additional ones over the next couple of weeks. Jim Rhodes, Megan White, or Mike Upchurch will be coming around to the different gyms tomorrow to answer any questions.

It would help if you could make announcements at halftime of the games at your gym about why the coaches will be barefooted and how the parents and players can get involved. Let me know what the reponse is with shoes. I will pick them up on Monday or Tuesday and get them to Samaritans Feet.

Thanks and God bless,
Keith

From Keith Tuesday 1/12/10:

The MMYBL is very excited to be a part of Samaritan's Feet Barefoot Coaching and its goal of collecting shoes for children around the world. Click here for all the details.

From Keith Monday 1/11/10:

Hey everyone,

So far a couple of typos and a mistake have been discovered. There may be more so if you have a question please contact me.. Here are the corrections.

On 1/16 team # 194 MPP1 is listed as playing twice. Their correct game time is Bell Johnson at 9:30am. They are listed also at 1:45pm at Trinity. The team that is scheduled to play team # 193 MPB should be # 184 CLU.

On 2/13 team # 5 UPB is listed as playing twice. Their correct time is at 3:45 at MP Baptist vs # 20 MPP7. They are listed also at 12:45pm at St. Stephen. The team that is scheduled to play team # 22 PRO2 should be # 2 SAR2.

Also on 2/13 team 136 v 115 c should be scheduled at 10:30am at St. Stephen. Team 73 vs 89 b should be scheduled at 8:30am at St. Stephen.

From Keith Tuesday 12/30/09:

I hope everyone had a very Merry Christmas. We've added links above to the schedule for the first 3 weeks in January. These were proofed and ready so I wanted to go ahead and get them out to you. There still may be mistakes, so if you you find any let me know ASAP and I will fix them. The remaining schedule will be sent our in a few days as it is being typed up and proofed.

AND A NOTE OF CLARIFICATION:

As always it is taking 2 extra weeks to get the schedule in because of gym availability and special reqUests. Teams will have 2 byes during the season. No team should have byes two weeks in a row. The remaining schedule should come out in a couple of days.

Thanks,
Keith

From Keith Wednesday 12/09/09:

Hey again,

I would have put this with the schedule changes , but I wanted to make sure neither got lost. The season is 1 week old and I needed to address a few things.

1. For the most part everyone does a great job with understanding the purpose of the league. I understand the intensity that comes with this great game of basketball. What your players see from you in your attitude and actions is something they will always remember. They may forget all the wins and the loses, but they will never forget their coach that showed them how to play the game "As if Jesus Christ is the only spectator". Don't take for granted the opportunity that God has blessed you with.

2. If you play games at Mt. Harmony Baptist please take your own basketballs to warm up with. They have a game ball but don't have balls to use for warm-up.

3. The winning coach should report scores through the web page. (www.playbookforlife.com) This helps with the remaining schedule as well as tournament seeding.

4. Jewelry is not allowed. This is for safety reasons. This means that earrings, bracelets, and necklaces must be removed. I know that Christmas brings many ear piercings. Maybe a gift certificate for after the basketball season is a great present. If there is a special situation that requires a permanent bracelet that cannot be removed please send me an email.

5. When you play at a gym please treat that gym like its your own. Take time to thank them for hosting the games. The MMYBL is a great league because many churches and people work together to make it happen.

6. Remember that this Saturday 12/12 is the Charlotte Thunder Road Marathon downtown. Please give yourself plenty of time to get to the downtown game locations. Many roads will be blocked off in the morning. Also, remember that you will probably get through the blocked streets much easier if you are kind and explain you situation in a calm manner to the nice police officers that are directing traffic.

I hope all of you have wonderful games this Saturday. If you happen to have a bye this Saturday, enjoy your day with your family.

God Bless,
Keith
