There are some teams that play 2 games this Saturday and some that play
2 games on the 28th. In order to complete the tournament in two Saturdays
so the season would not be prolonged into March for the A B & C
divisions this had to be done. There should be enough time between games
that the children get rest. All games played on the 21st are hi-lighted
in red. If you play a game during the week they are hi-lighted in blue.
All games played on the 28th are in bold black.
I know that some coaches coach more than one team. I tried to schedule
the games so the coaches could make all their games during the first
round. During the tournament it is very hard to do. After the first
round it become almost impossible. If your games are played at the same
time hopefully you have a good assistant coach. Please check for typos.
If you find any or have any questions please contact me ASAP.
The D, GD, E, GE tournament brackets will be ready by Sunday afternoon
2/22 (At least that is the plan). Their tournament will begin on 2/28.
Good Luck and remember to have FUN!

I
hope the season has gone great for everyone. As always there are going
to be a few issues, but the feedback I have been getting has been mostly
positive.
We always need a reminder about things from time to time, and now is
a good time.
1. Please make sure that coaches have a game day roster form with them
with the first and last name printed on it. This roster form should
given to the scorekeeper before each game.
2. There have been fewer blow-outs lately, but I still feel that some
teams can do a better job of not trapping and pressing when they have
a far superior team. The MMYBL does not mandate that teams have to play
defense inside the 3 point line when they have a 20 point lead, only
that they cannot press full court. However, as we discussed at the coaches'
meeting, if your team is far superior to another you should not be trapping
and pressing trying to cause turnovers. This may mean backing your team
up inside the 3 point line to play defense. There are a few teams that
seem to push the envelope when it comes to backing their team up. The
score is not the issue. As a coach I would not care how many points
a team scores on me as long as they are not trapping and trying to cause
turnovers just so their players can score more points on fast break
lay-ups.
3. If you are a host gym, please have a copy of the rules handy at the
scorers' table. Also, just as a reminder the clock should stop on all
whistles the last 1 minute of the first 3 quarters and the last 2 minutes
of the 4th quarter.
4. Click here for information
about the Hoops 4 Peace
3 on 3 Basketball Tournament. Samaritan's Feet and Playbook
for Life are partnering together to hold the tournament. The registration
form and information can be printed right off the web page. All proceeds
will go to help put shoes on needy children around the world.
Thanks for all you do.
God Bless,
Keith
